Very friendly service, WONDERFUL lunches. My husband and I have had paninis there for lunch twice and both times have fully enjoyed every bite. Their side salad with the greek dressing is wonderful. Their full menu looks great, we can't wait to return to enjoy a glass of wine and their antipasto platter. We have not yet tried their desserts, but judging by how wonderful their homebaked breads are, I'd be wiling to bet most everything else would hit the mark. I am so thrilled to see a new, reasonably priced Italian restaurant in Glenwood.

Fast and friendly but short on flavor. The sauces are just bland. Could use some spices and seasoning. Bolognese is just hamburger-no sausage.

Excellent food, great service, yummy bread with garlic butter! Could have been lighter on dressings - both the Greco and Caesar - but it all was delicious!!

Great spot...we saw it while walking and stopped for lunch. We split a pizza and it was very good. The pizza crust is out of this world. Server was friendly and restaurant was cozy. Worth the trip!

Love love this place!! Good food, live music on Fridays, and great service. The pasta is made fresh. The owner comes out and visit every table, we have even had the pleasure of sharing a glass of his famous home made lemon cello!!!

Not worth it at all. The food isn't very good and the service is poor. Go somewhere else.

We'd come back. Sauces were homemade. Pleased with the wine selection. Kids enjoyed pizza. Had the arugula parm salad and spinach ravioli, also homemade. Live music was a bit loud for my taste. Maybe I'm too old...

This place is AMAZING! Family owned business that is well priced. Don't expect quick in/out service. Expect traditional food and service where the servers actually have a conversations. We had a salad, bruschetta, pumpkin gnocchi and cheese tortellini with cheese sauce. We also got a bottle of wine and Tiramisu for dessert! I haven't had Italian food like that since I moved to Colorado 2 years ago. We sat outside on their small patio but was so nice. Other patrons were nice as well. We all conversed and tasted each others dishes, just as if it was family style. Don't let the reviews fool you, this place is amazing! I can't wait to go back and enjoy more food there

Definitely wanted to like this place. However, the $20 Pollo Marsala was watered down and had zero flavor. The sauce was either poorly reduced or they forgot to drain water off the overcooked pasta. Wet flavorless chicken & noodles makes me a sad sad panda. Linguine Vongole - same thing. High Points... Staff was friendly. Romantic atmosphere.

I want to love this place. They make all their food from scratch, have great ambiance (when the tv isn't on), and enjoyable wines. However, every time I go, the food falls short. It tastes homemade, rather than resturaunt quality. Their pastas are overcooked and bland. I ordered ravioli my first visit, which was the best dish I've had so far; it was unremarkable. The fresh bread was the best part. The tiramisu was so so. The next time, I tried the special. It was pasta with creamsauce, mushrooms, and chicken. The chicken was chewy and overdone. There was more sauce than anything else, and too few mushrooms. The basket of bread I got this time had a slice with a bite taken out of it, and the other pieces were too stale to eat. The canoli was so so. Last time I went, I ordered a pizza. The crust was thick, just the way I like it, but it tasted bland. Half of the toppings were obviously canned, and they were poorly spread on top. I hope they clean up their act: bring in more fresh vegetables, cook the pasta for a shorter time, change their pizza crust, and make better deserts. I'll keep going, just incase they improve.

Service was great! We had the bruschetta for an appetizer and it was so delicious, the bread was very thick but sooo good! We also had a pizza that was so delicious! All of the ingredients were fresh and the dough was great :) loved it

These guys know how to run a resturaunt. Not old style grassy Italian but good clean cooking. Loved the Saturday brunch. Best Benedict very fresh. Great waiters.

Eh, food was just ok. The sauces were pretty bland. Caprese was very bland. Service was very good however. It'll do in a pinch but I probably wouldn't come back.

Excellent pizza, decent wine list, adequate beer selection in this hidden gem! If you are craving pizza in G.S. - this place is a MUST!

We were SO happy to see that Trattoria Dionisia was open on our annual drive to the Palisade Wine festival from Longmont. We have a lot of great restaurants in Boulder County and I am regularly in the Bay Area, and I still rate Trattoria Dionisia in my top 3 favorite restaurants. If you go to a restaurant for the food and service, this place is a gem. The chef apparently makes everything from scratch. Really. Everything. My mushroom ravioli was really extraordinary. The Caesar salad was complemented by a perfect amount of perfect Caesar dressing -- noticeable garlic, a hint of anchovy . . . yum. The wine list is modest but the 3 or 4 selections I've had to date were very, very nice and inexpensive. And the desserts! My wife had one (that I ate half of) and she limited me to two more. And, of course, obviously all hand-made: cherry tarts, chocolate cannolis, mousse towers, and mouse tarts with fresh pear, and more I can't remember (so I took a photo so I could show my friends in Palisade). I don't usually eat pizza, but the waiter walked by with one and it looked wonderful. If you're looking for the best food on the Western Slope, don't forget to get off at Glenwood Springs and drive a couple of short blocks to this modest little restaurant with the big Italian chef standing outside.

Just another average place taking advantage of the location to turn a dollar. The place itself is easy to find. Seating is dark and normal. Staff is incredibly nice, even if they do make comments regarding non-locals. I had the Chicken Piccata with a Caesar salad. Neither were anything to write home about. The salad was missing the Parmesan saltiness as well as that signature anchovy taste bite. The Lemon sauce was watered down as if the linguini hadn't been strained. Large portion, too large for one person. But lacked the simple seasoning of salt and pepper. The redeeming quality: my kids had the Sausage and Cheese pizza. Very yummy. This is what I should have gotten. One son had the spaghetti and pomodoro. Just average. Too large of a portion for one 8yr old boy, even. My hubby had the Clams and Linguini. "It was fine. Not the tastiest. I've had better." Moral of the story: making a larger portion does not make a better meal If you go, just get the pizza. Nothing else is really worth it. By the way the herb butter needed seasoning. It was so utterly bland. So evidently they don't even use high quality butter to spread. -- margarine has a more buttery flavor.

Stopped over for a quick cappuccino on a snowy night while traveling from Denver to Salt Lake City. Place was charming and Sara, the bartender, was delightful. I decided to add an appetizer- so I ordered up a cheese dish-Formaggio al ...can't remember, but it was delicious. if you're looking for a place to drop in and recharge after being on the road for hours, you are well served to check this place out.

Uuuuuugh...how do you mess up pasta? My mother, grandmother, and I came here when we were staying the night in Glenwood Springs. We were hopeful when a local suggested coming here for their authentic Italian food. Upon entering we were greeted with what was perhaps the warmest welcome I have received into a restaurant. Again, I was hopeful. Upon perusing their wine menu we ordered drinks and moved onto the food. My grandma ordered the Bolognese with spaghetti instead of Gnocchi, my mom got the alfredo with tortellini and walnuts, and I opted for the shrimp scampi. The dishes all came out looking beautiful...the taste, however, was not so great. My shrimp were cooked well, but the sauce had so much lemon in it that I found myself puckering when I took a spoonful of it. My mom's dish was ok, but she said that she could have made it at home. My grandmother's dish, on the other hand, was just awful. The sauce had barely any meat in it and it tasted like watery Ragu. Maybe it was an off night...

The food is not good. The service was friendly and the wine was good. Maybe the lunch sandwiches are OK, but dinner wasn't. Because the wine was so good we overlooked the stale, undercooked (yup, both stale and undercooked! That takes talent) bread they served us and ordered anyway. The arugula salad was overdressed and had like 4 big thick slices of grana padano. I love cheese but grating 1/3 the amount into the salad would have improved the taste and reduced food cost. The arugula was fresh though. The pasta with clams was overcooked, mushy, bland with WAY too much oil/butter sauce (see photo of soggy pasta). The clams were OK. The pizza would be good if it was thinner. Ours came out half cooked (we sent it back for a few more minutes in the oven). We just laughed every time more food came out. It all just missed the mark so badly. This is like a Gordon Ramsey "before" restaurant. Maybe they'll get their sh*t together eventually, if they don't go bankrupt first.

If you're looking for a hole in the wall place with great food and service, this is the place. The menu is small but good. Great place for a meal and drink. Has full bar and good wine list.

Service = 10 - attentive, but not overly so. They made us feel important. Also, they actually encourage substitutions which I REALLY appreciate as I tend to substitute frequently. They behave very professionally and made me feel like I was in a much more expensive place. Coffee = 10 - I like my coffee strong, dark, and black which is exactly what they gave me, and it was well made - high in flavor and low in bitterness. Bread = 10 - Fresh and comes with a delicious herbed butter. Atmosphere = 10 - I was wanting to relax and that's exactly how I felt the moment I walked in the door. Food = 9.75 - The noodles were just slightly overdone for my taste, but the rest of the dish was so delicious and well put together that it made me forget all about that tiny tiny flaw. From the fresh tomato sauce and kalamata olives to the chopped garlic, capers, and mushrooms cooked just right. I think I've found a new favorite restaurant in Glenwood

this review pertains only to breakfast, however judging from their epic fail in this category, i wouldn't want to try anything else. we should have recognized it was a bad sign that the dining room was completely empty on a saturday morning. we didn't have time to wait for a table at the daily bread down the street (superb breakfast) & took our chances. YUCK! we ordered eggs benedict & oatmeal. i wish i'd taken pictures as this was the most atrocious food i'd ever seen coming out of a professional kitchen. what was supposed to be poached eggs looked like microwaved eggs that had been dropped at least once on the floor. the oatmeal honestly looked like dried cat vomit. it was so bad. the "hollandaise sauce" was some kind of tasteless watery mess. please save your time & money and don't go here for breakfast!

Cute place. Service was good. They were flexible in working with my wife to adjust an entree to her weight watchers plan. The problem for me was the dessert. We ordered a chocolate covered pear that was not very good. It had a very bland taste and the ice cream had ice crystals. The waitress was very good and said she would take care of it. However, the manager would only approve half off the bill since we ate part of it. My pet peeve is patronizing establishments that do not offer 100 percent customer satisfaction. In retrospect, I wished I would have gone to the Italian Underground Restaurant.

Pretty good food. Not awesome. And they are chincy for the price. Chicken breast and a few noodles in watery sauce $19. I might try another dish and give them another chance. On the other hand our waiter was sweet and the service was good.

Very cute lil place on bottom level right with a great diverse menu :) Guess it just opened two months ago by a family, and it is a place I will visit each time I'm in Glenwood! My Tortellini Formaggio was excellent and they also sell fresh homemade items like Italian bread and desserts. This place is a Must-Visit! :)

I really like this place, the food was awesome and the price was great and it has a nice atomosphere! I'm going to come back here every time I come to glenwood. The only downside was how slow the service was, there seemed to be only one waitress on a Saturday night and the bartender was the one who served us. They definitely need some more help. Over all I'm pleased.

This is a delightful restaurant with a truly European feel. The Hubs and I enjoyed a wonderful, intimate lunch that included 2 meals, beverages, dessert, and coffee and the bill was just under $30. A steal in downtown Glenwood Springs! Service was pleasant and fast. The coffee and tiramisu are out of this world! I had an excellent panini and Hubs had a delicious baguette with prosciutto. This place goes for quality on the ingredients. The only disappointments were the lettuce for my salad (old and limp sadly), and the lighting in here could use some work (move away from the fluorescents!) Also, please offer skim milk for your coffee drinks and you may just be my favorite restaurant in downtown Glenwood Springs!

This authentic Italian eatery in Glenwood Springs is delicious. Great for a panini at lunch, pasta or pizza for dinner - and they have a brunch menu which I aim to try soon. Definitely a must for fresh, quality food in downtown Glenwood!! Oh, and they make their own bread - and have gluten-free pizza and pasta options.

We ate there last week. My husband was up all night with cramping and the runs. My chicken was too hard from microwaving to chew, and I had to return it. They brought a plate of tortolini, swimming in sauce. Bland, but edible. They charged me for the more expensive entree. The child's plate of spaghetti featured dry noodles with a few pieces of ground beef. After waiting over 30 minutes after arriving on time for our reservation, the whole experience was abysmal. The wait staff was adequate, but the food was horrid.

My husband and I were on a road trip and on our way to Utah when we stopped here (08/08/13). We didn't want fast food and since we had been horse back riding for 6 hours at the Rocky Mountain National Park we were pretty hungry. We had to wait a little for some tables to clear, but once we were seated we were politely greeted and made our orders. We ordered a pizza and some fettuccine with chicken. The food came out promptly. The pizza was amazing! The cream sauce for the fettuccine wasn't as creamy as I had hoped, and the chicken was not the best quality (probably pumped full of salt water), but it had a nice flavor as far as the seasoning goes. Defiantly recommend ordering a pizza! It's a nice little place.

This restaurant does not have the quality food, my family was very disappointed. Authentic - not! Not only were we disappointed in the supposedly "homemade" pastas, but we passed on desserts. The desserts in the case looked old as if they had been there for awhile. It is hard to believe that this restaurant has such high ratings. Possibly lunch panini's are better than the dinners. I will never go back to find out.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
